Panayaa- Modern Indian Kitchen

Panayaa is a modern fine dining restaurant in Kalyani Nagar which is in the Mariplex Mall.






They have taken Vegetarian food to the next level, this modern eatery is one fine example on how a restaurant needs to be functioning for a good fine dine experience.

Superb interiors, comfortable seating, proper well-lit designed restaurant with an expansive menu lined up for vegetarian food.

We were invited for dinner and we started with the Cheese Munchies, a delicious starter served in an innovative way.


The Vada Pav Version 3.0 was a winner for us, a delicious potato patty served with chutney and some chilies, simple mind-blowing stuff.


The Cottage Cheese Indiana was a simple cottage cheese dish,well-flavored and the cheese was just melting, perfect.


The Corn Bhel Maze Cornetto was another innovative presentation.


The Nazakat Kumbh, tandoori smoked mushrooms served with some Indian spices is a good dish for mushroom lovers.


The Chole Bunny Chao was simply outstanding, Chole sitting on a fresh hollowed baguette, do not miss this.


Special mention is a simple dish Dal Tadkewali, description of this dish won’t do any justice, you could visit Panayaa for this dish alone is all we can say.

Sabudana Papad Sev Puri , a dish which not only stunned our senses but also our taste buds. A very innovative way of serving sev puri and I never thought I would enjoy sabudana in sev puri but it was a fantastic dish.

Panayaa is introducing molecular gastronomy into the classic Indian dishes such as the Sabudana Papad Sev Puri and Khamad Dhokla Oxide and its a treat.

The winner of the day was the Chocolate Landscape , mud cake, brownie chunks and oodles of chocolate and sauces make this dessert a signature dish, this is a chocolate lover dream come true.

Overall if you are looking at some thing different and a real good dining experience, you can’t miss Panayaa.

Cake Mixing at Sheraton Grand Pune

No Christmas is complete without a big slice of a rich plum cake.

Nowadays most hotels are celebrating cake mixing as an event all across India.

Mohammad Mukhtiar from Food-Adda was at the Sheraton Grand, Pune for the cake mixing event.

The dried fruits were arranged in a tray and soaked in alcohol which would rest for a month’s time. The fruits are used during Christmas to make cakes and pudding.

After the event, the high tea was served which had an array of snacks such as chicken puffs and Quiche . The chocolate tart was fabulous and had a rich dark chocolate flavour to it.

Chef Roberto had made a special cassata cake for us which was the star of the event . The high tea was complimented with some refreshing Sangria and beverages.

Meeting people and taking part in this event was time well spent.

Looking forward to tasting it on Christmas.

Black Dog is partnering with the best Stand Up comedians in India and are hosting various events in the best places all over the country. Black Dog presented the Maverick stand up comedian Varun Thakur at Unwind Pune last night. A fun and laughter filled evening well spent. #blackdogeasyevenings #lovescotch #whiskyweekends

Coco – Sushi and Bar

Coco – Sushi & Bar opened its doors to Pune sometime back with a unique concept , only members or friends of members can be a part of this dining experience. Black inspired interiors give it a classy look . Panoramic views of the city can be experienced along with fine dining.

Beijing Duck Thong Soup – Clear soup almost like a consomme with succulent pieces of duck. The soup was soothing and we could not stop sipping on it.


 Spicy Squid Salad – The dish did taste better than it sounds. Sautéed squids in a spicy sauce went perfectly well with the crunchy salad. The salad was seasoned just right so the squids flavour would not empower it.



Ebi Sushi Roll – The art of sushi making was mastered by Coco. The prawns were outstanding and the sushi had intense flavour. The dish was a straight away winner.


Chicken Shitaki Dimsums – Firm dimsums with a thin wrapper with perfectly flavoured chicken and shitaki. The mixture just made my day. The dips given just complimented the dimsums but did not overpower it.



Lemon Grass Fish Cakes – Not a fan of fish cakes but these were not oily and had a good flavour , lemon grass added a mild flavour leaving the true essence of fish cake. 


Chicken Wrapped In Banana Leaf – The dish reminded me the day I had a simple dish in the beautiful state of Kerala. Simple flavoured chicken wrapped in a banana leaf which added flavour and left the simplicity of the dish intact .


Wasabi Ice Cream – A mild flavour of wasabi gave a unique taste to this ice cream .


Smoked Dark Chocolate Mousse Cake – I think I really don’t need to write about this one . It was a dream come true for a chocolate lover. The chocolate with the combination of mousse cake just took me on the trip to Charlie and his chocolate factory. My personal favorite and a perfect end to a perfect meal.

Phoenix Market City with Karen Anand and Minoti Makim had a fantastic event lined up in Pune which literally took  you on a gourmet journey with the city’s top award-winning restaurants.IMG_4866
